Creating on-brand illustrations to simplify complex financial data and reduce cognitive load

Making Financial Data Accessible

As Israel’s largest financial institution, Bank Hapoalim is required to present complex data that can often overwhelm customers. The challenge was to take a conservative, clean corporate interface and make it accessible for the everyday user.

My solution was to integrate a system of on-brand illustrations. These visuals serve a functional purpose beyond mere decoration, designed to address two core challenges:

Reducing Cognitive Load

Visualizations that break down complexity, making it easier for users to process "heavy" financial data simply and quickly

Enhancing Scannability

Creating visual anchors that help users orient themselves, distinguish between topics, and grasp the bottom line at a glance

Marketing Hero: Multi-Bank Deposit

For this marketing website, the goal was to create an immediate visual hook that drives user action. I worked with the bank's recurring visual metaphor: equating financial investment with the organic growth of plants and flowers.

My aim was to capture an authentic 'Israeli' atmosphere—
a blend of urban and rural elements.

Concept V1 (Shelved)

I initially pushed for a highly vibrant, colorful palette—perhaps a bit too vibrant for the brand's tone.

The selected design adopts a refined and subtle approach. It balances the colors to create an inviting atmosphere that feels professional rather than overwhelming."

Visualizing Money Market Products

Money market products are liquid financial instruments. My goal was to give each abstract product a clear visual identity.

Makam / Short-Term Loans

A government bond issued by the Bank of Israel for up to one year. It is issued at a discount and redeemed at full value upon maturity.

Daily Mutual Funds

Funds traded every business day, allowing users to buy or sell units on demand. While highly liquid, the yield is not guaranteed and is subject to management fees.

Deposits & Savings

A secure way to save money for a fixed period. The principle is simple: lower liquidity (locking funds for a longer time) typically results in a higher interest rate.

A Living Illustration Ecosystem

Beyond standalone visuals, I developed a scalable library of illustrations and Lottie animations used across the entire digital product. From empty states to success screens, these assets ensure a cohesive emotional experience, guiding the user with a consistent and friendly voice.
